Recheis's high-protein pasta with faba bean protein and pea flour: 26 g protein per 100 g and about 30% fewer carbohydrates than regular durum wheat pasta.
Recheis Lower Carb is Recheis's high-protein pasta line. According to the official site, the dough contains durum wheat semolina, 22% plant protein from faba beans, 12% pea flour, oat fibre and wheat protein. Per 100 g of dry pasta this gives 26 g of protein, 11 g of fibre and 49 g of carbohydrates; the maker says this is about 30% fewer carbohydrates and twice as much protein as regular durum wheat pasta. The pasta is egg-free and certified vegan, but it contains gluten.
The line has three shapes: spaghetti, Dralli (spirals) and gedrehte Hörnchen (twisted elbows). The Hörnchen cook in about 5 minutes.
The range is aimed at people who want more protein and fewer carbohydrates without giving up familiar pasta shapes; Recheis says it looks and tastes like classic pasta. It belongs to pasta made with other flours.
