Recheis
Austrian family pasta maker from Hall in Tirol, founded in 1889: dry egg pasta (Goldmarke), durum wheat, spelt, whole wheat, gluten-free and lower-carb pasta.
Recheis is an Austrian family pasta company from Hall in Tirol. According to its history page, Marianne and Josef Recheis founded Austria's first pasta manufactory there in 1889, making pasta from the flour of their mill and bakery. The Hausmacherschnitt, its first product, has been on the market ever since. Josef Recheis built an in-house drying plant to cope with the Tyrolean climate, and in 1917 the firm was appointed k.u.k. court supplier. In 1950 Recheis first made egg pasta with fresh eggs, and in 1962 it launched Recheis Goldmarke in the red-and-gold pack of the time. Between 1987 and 1997 the Hall plant was modernised and expanded, doubling pasta production. Since 2023 Stefan Recheis has been sole managing director, leading the company in the fifth generation.
About 100 employees at the Hall plant produce up to 110 tonnes of pasta a day, and the water comes from the Karwendel nature reserve. According to the company, the durum wheat for Recheis Original Tyroler Teigwaren comes from Lower Austria, from more than 200 family farms in the Weinviertel that grow it exclusively for Recheis. For Goldmarke, Recheis states 100% ingredients from Austria.
The product overview lists lines including Goldmarke (egg pasta from durum wheat), Original Tyroler Teigwaren (egg-free and vegan, from durum wheat and water), Dinkel (spelt pasta with egg), Vollkorn (wholegrain, egg-free), Glutenfrei (from maize and rice flour), Lower Carb (with legume protein from broad bean and pea; 30% fewer carbohydrates according to the company) and Familie (1 kg packs).
