The south-western part of the plateau.

Sebeș-Apold is a wine district in central Romania, in the south-west of the Transylvanian Plateau. It belongs to the wine zone of the Transylvanian Plateau (Podișul Transilvaniei), also known as Târnave after the rivers. The centre is the town of Sebeș in Alba County. It is one of the traditional places of Romanian white wine. The district's name is protected as a PDO.

The district is one of Romania's main wine areas: on the Transylvanian Plateau, Alba, Aiud, Lechința and Târnave lie beside it. The vineyards lie on hill slopes along river valleys.

The main grapes are white: Italian Riesling (Welschriesling), Riesling, Fetească Regală and Fetească Albă, and in other parts of the plateau Traminer. The wines come out fresh, with floral and fruity notes and good acidity. Fetească Regală gives both dry and semi-dry wines.

The town of Sebeș itself, called Mühlbach in German, lies in south-western Transylvania and has kept its Saxon heritage. Romania as a whole has about 187,000 hectares of vineyards, sixth place in Europe, and ranks thirteenth in the world by wine volume.
