🧀 Ferrari Formaggi
Ferrari Formaggi is an Italian brand of grated and pre-packed cheeses from the Lodi area with roots in 1823, known for GranMix, Parmigiano Reggiano and Grana Padano.
Ferrari Formaggi is the brand of the Italian company Ferrari Giovanni Industria Casearia S.p.A., which selects, ages, grates and packs cheese. The company traces its origins to 1823 and a small dairy in the Po valley, where farms around Lodi made butter, mascarpone, grana and pasta filata cheeses.
Around 1900 the dairy was taken over by Peppino Rossi, and in the 1920s his nephew Silvio Ferrari began selling cheese beyond Lombardy. In the 1960s Giovanni Ferrari turned the family dairy into an industrial company focused on pre-packed and grated cheese, and in the 1980s he created the GranMix grated blend. Today the company has two production sites, in Ossago Lodigiano and Fontevivo (Parma); since 2008 it has also owned a Parmigiano Reggiano dairy in Bedonia in the mountain valley of Alta Val Taro.
Ranges on the official site: GranMix grated cheese blends; grated cheeses; Parmigiano Reggiano, including mountain and organic; Grana Padano aged by Ferrari; Il tagliere dei formaggi — table cheeses Tilsit, Emmental, Emalpino and Fontalpe; lactose-free and gluten-free cheeses; and gift boxes.
How to choose: for grated cheese check the ingredients — a single PDO cheese or a blend of several cheeses.
