Storia. Secondo il produttore, Barry Crockett creò Midleton Very Rare nel 1984, e il marchio ha avuto tre master distiller: Barry Crockett, Brian Nation e, più di recente, Kevin O'Gorman. L'annata 2026 è la 43ª edizione annuale e la sesta sotto O'Gorman. Ogni master distiller ha messo da parte piccole quantità di whiskey dal buon rendimento per le annate successive, e le botti sono conservate in magazzini risalenti agli anni Sessanta dell'Ottocento.
Come si produce. Per l'annata 2026 Irish Distillers descrive cinque stili di distillato: tre single pot still e due single grain, tra cui whiskey di grano più vecchi maturati in botti americane ex bourbon. L'annata 2025 usava sei stili di distillato. La composizione cambia di anno in anno.
